Voyager 1 Jupiter Images – Jupiter, Io and Europa
Jupiter, Io and Europa
Jupiter imaged by Voyager 1 at a range of 21 million km on February 13, 1979. The lower half of this mosaic is from the same source images as this well known image: http://photojournal.jpl.nasa.gov/catalog/PIA00144. At this time Voyager 1 was obtaining 2x2 mosaics so a global mosaic was possible. Io is can be seen silhouetted against the Great Red Spot and Europa is at lower right.
